I have posted other articles on Medium that tell stories of many of the abusive treatments that were daily fare for me until I was already in my teens. Those articles may sound difficult to believe, but the belief that parents never hate their children is one that I learned was totally false. I might add that the youngest of my five children, a daughter who is married and very successful professionally, endured enough abuse from her mother, my ex-wife who was the one who slandered me and eventually had me made homeless, now readily affirms that parents can and often do hate their children. Having one child who knows that I faced severe injustice and abuse is at least consoling to me in my old age now, and at least I have that much comfort now that I am technically a senior citizen and regarded as someone with “one foot in the grave,” as many have revealed to me is a common belief about persons over the age of 55 in this day and age.
I wrote and published a novel back in 2021 about close to a decade in which I ended up in a homeless shelter in Washington, DC because I had genitalia that resulted in a situation that required me to leave my area of residence rather than be banished to a life on the streets; no, I am not making that up! I learned the hard way that while gender discrimination is against the law, if it is against a woman, she will have an abundance of organizations, agencies, lawyers, and more supportive persons and institutions who will give her needed assistance.
